Apply for Workshop
Artist Application

On Saturday May 20th, and Sunday May 21st, the North Gwinnett Arts Association (NGAA) will host their Suwanee Plein Air Event. “Plein Air” is a French term that means painting in the open air, working directly from the landscape or cityscape as it appears exactly at that moment. Artists will showcase their personalized styles in pursuit of a shared goal – freezing a snapshot in time. As the movement of the sun and clouds alter the lighting and colors of the view, the challenge is to capture the feeling of that moment.

Visitors are invited to watch the artists at work, where some artists will be eager to talk about their work, while others will be so engrossed in their creation they may be unaware of onlookers. In either case, watching an artwork develop under the capable hands of an artist is a fascinating, and unique experience. Participating artists will work for two days within the City of Suwanee creating their art.

Plein Air will culminate on Sunday evening, May 21st, with opening reception at the Gallery for the Arts located in the charming Suwanee Town Center. During this reception the art will be available for public viewing and purchase, with the exhibit moving at a later date to Suwanee City Hall for additional exhibition and viewership.
